Welcome to the Oregon Association of Municipal Recorders website!

Since 1983, OAMR has been dedicated to supporting municipal recorders, clerks, and administrative professionals serving cities and special districts across Oregon. Our theme this year, “Dare Because Others Believe,” is a reminder that sometimes the courage to take the next step, embrace a new challenge, or discover what we're capable of begins with knowing someone believes in us.

 The work we do as municipal professionals is constantly evolving. From staying current with records management practices and navigating ever-changing state regulations to strengthening our skills and adapting to the needs of our communities, there is always something new to learn and an opportunity to grow. OAMR provides a place to build confidence, share knowledge, ask questions, and find encouragement among colleagues who understand the important work we do.

 The role of a municipal clerk or recorder has a rich history dating back centuries. In early colonial America, town clerks were responsible for preserving records of births, deaths, marriages, land transactions, and other vital information. Over time, these responsibilities expanded to include elections, licensing, financial administration, and many other essential functions of local government. Today, municipal recorders continue to serve as trusted stewards of public information and play a vital role in the transparency, accountability, and effective governance of our communities.

 As we move through this year together, remember that you don't have to have all the answers, and you don't have to take every step alone. Dare to grow, dare to lead, dare to try something new, and dare to believe in your own abilities because others believe in you.
